1.  Towel
Not all hostels provide towels for guests. But there are many hostels that provide this facility. In Singapore, for example, when I was staying in a hostel in China Town and Kembangan area, they do not provide towels at all.

But while staying in hostels Lavender and Bugis areas, facilities towels are provided. Upon check-in I was given a clean bed linen washed, blanket fabric + towel for showering. Like living in a dorm, I had to put the sheets on the mattress itself to me. Upon check out each and every guest is obliged to fold sheets that we use along with a blanket and towel in place already reserved for later washed.

Every policy is different hostels. Therefore, as a precaution you should take a small towel for traveling in case it turns out in the hostel do not provide towels.
